Time debt!
We’ve all heard that time is money (even though it’s infinitely more important!). Sticking with the analogy, I’ve come to realize that I’m in pretty deep debt when it comes to time. I overextended myself by pushing out a few projects to start the year off (partly because I was hoping to have certain books out in time for a couple of shows that I didn’t end up getting into anyway). Combined with a day job that’s absolutely draining at times, and a schedule full of kids’ baseball, it’s a lot.
Thankfully I’ve never been in credit card debt (despite my books never even :P ), but I can definitely see how hard of a hole it is to climb out of.
I know eventually I’ll catch up, and have a whole bunch of comics to share, but for now, it’s a slog.
I’ve got all of the promised stories wrapped up for For the Love of Comics! but delaying that a bit longer because I really wanted to add one more story that I’m drawing (yet another task on the list). Hopefully the added value makes it worth the wait! Otherwise, it’s a pretty rapid release between Frost Bitten, the digital Bullet Adventures #8, and FTLOC!, along with the continued direct market release of Bullet.
Next up? A Sensational Swan spinoff focused on one of his rogues, Ms. Mist. I typically don’t share too much until a project is at least near completion, but this one is too exciting to keep to myself. It’s a departure from her capes roots (even if her intro was an unconventional approach to begin with). Writer John Ward came up with a mature premise that screamed the original Vertigo line, so I couldn’t help myself throwing this logo together:
Early art from Sunando looks amazing and is exactly what I imagined as I was reading the first draft. I’m so lucky to get to work with my first choice artist on this (and flex my biggest muscle, my eye for talent!)
I hope you’ll consider following the project page and help get the word out ahead of its launch. The more followers, the better the algorithm can work in our favour. Now we just cross our fingers that Kickstarter’s new rules around mature projects (even if that’s more about the “spicey” stuff) won’t impact this one at all.
Hopefully by next time I’ll be a bit more caught up, and will have some news on yet another book in the works ;)
Until then, stay safe!
Randy
